California race is heating up
California’s gubernatorial race may be heating up in light of Scott Brown. The leading Republican Meg Whitman is closing in on Democrat and Attorney General Jerry Brown, whose lead has been cut from 25 to 17 points.
Meg Whitman is currently the leading Republican candidate. She is also considered a moderate. As I have said before, there may be a better chance of a moderate winning in a blue state like California. California’s current governor, Schwarzenegger, is also considered a moderate Republican.
Whitman may have a good chance given her moderate status as well as her bank account. She has pumped millions of her own funds into her campaign and as the founder of Ebay she has a lot of more funds than some of her challengers. Jerry Brown, the current California Attorney General, also has a history of questionable decisions, most recently his handling of Prop 8.
The primaries will be held in June with the election occurring in November.
